Stade Rennais have confirmed that they will be taking on Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side in a friendly at the beginning of next month.

The Hoops domestic campaign, like many others across the world, has currently been halted due to the 2022 World Cup, taking place in Qatar.

However, preparations are all set to get underway for the Bhoys’ return to domestic action against Aberdeen on the 17th of December.

After being granted the past week off, Ange Postecoglou, his coaching staff and players are expected to return to training next week.

The squad will then head off for a warm-weather training camp in Portugal to build themselves back up to speed for the second half of the campaign.

Although the Hoops’ schedule is yet to be confirmed by the club, there have been reports that Postecoglou will put his players through their paces in a friendly outing.

Reports from France have suggested that Celtic will be facing off against Stade Rennais, who have been recent foes for the club in the Europa League.

And today, the French team confirmed that they will be taking on Ange Postecoglou’s side and one other opponent a few days later.

The Bhoys will face the 3rd place Ligue 1 team on the 10th of December, with the match providing a good opportunity for the squad to build up their match sharpness.

Rennes confirm Celtic friendly as players prepare for hard work to get underway.

After making such a strong start to the season in Scotland, you would imagine the Celtic manager is keen to see his squad much that consistency into the second half of the campaign.

So, the period over in Portugal could prove to be a crucial trip as Ange Postecoglou puts his squad through their paces ahead of the return.

It is good to see that the club have lined up a friendly against strong European opposition, which should allow us to prepare for our first competitive game back at Pittodrie.

Rennes will also be facing off against Dutch opposition in Feyenoord, who are heading out to Portugal for their preparations too.

It remains to be seen whether the Hoops will be taking part in two friendly matches. But, for now, Ange Postecoglou’s side will only be going up against French opposition.
