As well as taking Celtic back to the top of the Scottish Premiership, the win over Motherwell again raised some questions about the match officiating at Fir Park yesterday.
Celtic’s victory at Fir Park was marred with two controversy’s as the match officials got involved in what ended up as a canter for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Hoops striker Adam Idah was subject to a horrific tackle and VAR had to intervene to ensure a red card was properly issued to Motherwell defender, Liam Gordon.
Whilst Stuart Kettlewell embarrassed himself with comments on the dismissal, the Motherwell boss has now been told by former SFA referees Des Roache and Steve Conroy that he’s lucky not to have had a second player red carded in Celtic’s win.
Stephen O’Donnell should have seen red for challenge on Celtic’s Daizen Maeda
Speaking to fans from their Behind The Whistles podcast X account, they said, “He’s [O’Donnell] ran across and led with his forearm. That’s the first contact, the forearm and barged across him. I don’t genuinely believe you think Maeda has tripped the defender here.

“Not going to even try to offer up any potential excuses for it. VAR should see that and suggest a review of the penalty and DOGSO (Denying of goal-scoring opportunity) red card.
“They have numerous cameras. It should go goal, scored with hand = no goal, next Attacking Phase foul on Maeda = Review Penalty and Red Card. The audio when this one is looked at on Wullie Collum’s VAR review show will be interesting listening.
“Can’t really understand why VAR has not suggested a review.”
The fan conundrum as Celtic, Dundee, Rangers and Aberdeen all face off this Wednesday
The Wednesday night promises to be a memorable one for the Celtic fans if all results go their way.
Obviously, the priority for the Hoops fans is to beat Dundee and not care about the Aberdeen vs Rangers game but if every fan is honest with themselves, one eye will be glancing over at Pittodrie this midweek.

With Rangers trailing Aberdeen by six points would Celtic fans want The Dons to win to put even more distance between the two clubs in second and third place?
Would Celtic fans want the unthinkable and hope Rangers beat Aberdeen so that if Brendan Rodgers takes care of Dundee then a three point gap opens up at the top of the Scottish Premiership?
Or finally, would a draw between the two clubs be acceptable as a Celtic win would still create a gap and draw the Hoops further from Rangers to boot.
67 Hail Hail would hazard a guess that the majority of Celtic fans would want Rangers to lose to keep the gap from them as large as possible but however it goes on Wednesday, it is sure to be a big night for the fans.
