Scott Allan has announced his retirement as he penned an emotional message confirming the news.
Allan was last with Kelty Hearts in Scottish League One as the midfielder helped them finish sixth, making 22 appearances and scoring two goals.
The 33-year-old was also a coach at the club and will look to continue coaching now that he has retired, as well as exploring more media opportunities.
Allan played for Celtic between 2015 and 2019, but he only managed to make 17 appearances for the Parkhead club, all of which came under Ronny Deila.

Ex-Celtic man Scott Allan retires from playing career
Allan confirmed his retirement on social media platform X and thanked his former coaches, teammates and fans, but most importantly his family.
He wrote: “As I step away from playing the game I love, I want to take a moment to reflect on my journey. From the time I was a kid, it was my dream to play in front of a full stadium, wearing my name on the back of my shirt.
“The feeling, the adrenaline, the connection with fans—nothing compares to that feeling. I owe immense gratitude to my family. Your unwavering support throughout my battle with diabetes has been my anchor.
“You took me to training week in and week out, fostering my passion and perseverance on and off the field. Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, and fans for making my dream a reality.
“This is not just an end, but a chapter filled with cherished memories. I’m excited to embark on new adventures in media and coaching! This next chapter will allow me to share my experiences, inspire others, and continue my passion for the game. Thank you.”
Allan’s time at Celtic was underwhelming
Allan impressed for Hibs across the 2014/15 season and it caught the attention of both Rangers and Celtic, with the midfielder a boyhood Rangers fan.
He was heavily linked with an Ibrox switch but a move never materialised and he instead penned a four-year deal at the Hoops.
All of Allan’s 17 games for the club came in the 2015/16 campaign, which turned out to be Deila’s final season as manager.
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title that year, Allan’s only winner’s medal from his time at Parkhead. He went out on loan to Rotherham United, Dundee and Hibs before leaving Celtic permanently in 2019.
