Ex-SFA refs correctly predict Rangers vs Celtic officials but eviscerate ‘untouchable’ VAR man

The Rangers vs Celtic Glasgow Derby is last meeting of the season between the two clubs.

As it stands, both clubs have wone two meetings out of four each after Celtic beat Rangers in the League Cup final and the Parkhead derby in September and Rangers won the last two clashes.

With Celtic winning the league at Tannadice last weekend, the derby in terms of how the season pans out, really means nothing.

However, in terms of bragging rights and status, Celtic and Brendan Rodgers will want to assert their dominance over Rangers and compound their miserable season with a win at Ibrox.

So as the SFA announce Nick Walsh as the match referee and Andrew Dallas on VAR, two former referees eviscerated one of the officials as they tried to predict who would get the final Glasgow Derby of the season.

Andrew Dallas blasted as SFA announce Rangers vs Celtic officials

Des Roache and Steve Conroy were making their predictions on The Ref’s View on who would be appointed for the big Ibrox clash and during this, both took a huge swing at VAR man Andrew Dallas.

Conroy: “Next week, I would go for ref, Don [Robertson], VAR, Steven McLean.

Roache: “I don’t think it’ll be Don because Don had Celtic vs Dundee United. Nick [Walsh] was down at Kilmarnock vs Ross County. So I’m thinking Nick.

“But given a broader perspective, and if you want to open it up, I wouldn’t be surprised if David Dickinson got it because it really does mean nothing. But I think Nick will get it [match referee].”

Conroy: “Dallas will get it [VAR]. I’m being a wee bit facetious here. Absolutely Dallas will get it. He’s absolutely not [deserving of it].

I’m just going to raise the temperature again a wee bit. If Alan Muir is bad enough that he deserves to be sacked, then why hasn’t Dallas followed suit? But this takes us back to the conversation that we had earlier on about people being untouchable.

“Of course, Dallas doesn’t deserve the Celtic vs Rangers game, but that means almost, almost guaranteed that the SFA will give him it.”

Roache: “So they’re not going to give [Don Robertson] Celtic two games back to back and putting Nick down at Ross County which is a bottom six game, not meaningless because every game’s obviously got a meaning to it, I think that for my opinion that tends to lead to me that I think Nick’s probably going to get it.”

Conroy was pretty brutal in his assessment of Dallas and it’s a sentiment that will be shared by many Celtic supporters.

Celtic’s results vs Rangers this season as Rodgers laid down early season marker

As previously said, Celtic have lost two and won two over all competitions over Rangers this season with the Parkhead club recording two big wins in the early stages of the season.

In the first derby at Celtic Park, Rodgers hammered Rangers 3-0 as he got his defence of the title off to a flyer.

The next big high-pressure game was the League Cup in which Celtic held their nerve again to lift the trophy against the Ibrox club in another Hampden final win.

By the time the next two games against Rangers came around, the league was effectively over as Celtic were so far ahead at the top of the table and with a cup in the bag.

Whilst every Celtic fan will expect a win at Ibrox, Rodgers will undoubtedly ensure that happens as the Hoops boss will want to end the league season on a high at his biggest rivals.
