Celtic’s next fixture is the crucial Europa League clash against Utrecht.

The games continue to come thick and fast for Martin O’Neill as Celtic’s next fixture pits the Hoops boss up against another Dutch club.

Celtic beat Feyenoord earlier in the competition in Rotterdam, and to secure qualification into the Europa League the Bhoys must beat Utrecht on Thursday night.

With the game at Celtic Park, fans will fancy their chances of recording another win in the tournament and to help, a former SFA trouble-shooter has turned into an Eredivisie insider for Hoops boss Martin O’Neill.

Former SFA man Mark Wotte delivers Celtic the lowdown on ‘very-good’ Utrecht star

This isn’t the first time Mark Wotte has turned into a Europa League scout for Celtic in Europe. He once claimed the Bhoys would beat AZ Alkmaar by three clear goals back in 2021.

And with Utrecht coming up, the former SFA Technical Director has told Celtic about how Utrecht will approach this tie and points out the Dutch side’s dangerman.

Wotte told The Sunday Post, “I think it’s still a big match for them to go and play away to Celtic.

“I’m sure they will play an offensive game. I like Souffian El Kouarani, a very good left-footed Moroccan.

“He’s a threat on the left and Celtic should try to take care of him. Everyone expected him to leave in August to go abroad or a lucrative venture to the Gulf.

“I thought it was a miracle that he stayed but the owner did not want him to go.”

Wotte points out two key Utrecht weaknesses Celtic can exploit

As well as pointing out the players Celtic need to be wary of, Wotte has told the Parkhead club of two weak areas O’Neill can target on Thursday night.

The former SFA man continued, “Dani de Wit is a very dynamic midfielder who can push the team forward.

“But some things have not worked out. Sebastian Haller, the striker from Ivory Coast, has returned to the club but has been poor.

“Because of his first spell 10 years ago, the owner thought of bringing a ‘local hero’ back.

“However, he’s not scoring goals, he’s physically not 100%. He’s 31 and off track.

“He might be a threat on a good day but he’s just not that prolific any more.”

Utrecht are on a horrific run of form heading into the Celtic game after they suffered their fourth defeat on the bounce at the weekend.

With Celtic resurgent under O’Neill, fans will be hoping to see a big score racked up to ensure European football progression for the second season in a row.
