Celtic legend Scott Brown has wasted no time in taking advantage of the partnership Ayr United have struck up with the Parkhead club.

Celtic and Ayr United have joined up as the Scottish champions strike up an agreement to send top young talents from the Academy to Brown’s club during the course of the season.

The former Celtic captain wasted no time and took young Jude Bonnar on loan to Ayr for the whole of next season.

The Celtic Academy graduate slotted right into the Championship club’s first-team for the Premier Sport’s Cup tie against Arbroath and Bonnar immediately left Brown in awe with a goalscoring debut performance.

Scott Brown hails ‘exceptional’ Celtic youngster Jude Bonnar

Speaking post match, Brown admits he was delighted to get young Bonnar on loan and shared his honest thoughts on the youngster’s Ayr debut.

Brown told Ayr United, “He’s got a great understanding of football. He’s also very, very good in the press as well. He gets after people, he closes down, and then there’s calmness on the ball.

“It’s making the right decisions at the right times. And he’s been at a big club, and he understands what Brendon and people like that want.

“So for him to come here and to do that for us, he’s been exceptional. His finish was exceptional, and he’s managed to chop inside have that little bit of calmness and, right foot, slides it into the top corner. So hopefully there is a lot more of that to come.”

Jude Bonnar had no hesitation to leave Celtic for Ayr United on loan

Speaking after the match, Bonnar was also delighted with his debut and shared how Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and Scott Brown spoke to him about the temporary move.

Bonnar said, “So when I found, just before pre season, that the manager at Celtic, also the gaffer here, been talking about it, and obviously the cooperation and stuff, when I had that opportunity come here, I just agreed to it straight away.

Of his impressive goal, Bonnar said, “It was tough [his debut]. But coming on, you can see the players are clued up on the shape, in possession, out of possession, so they make it easier for me getting the ball, work as a team without the ball.

“And then my goal, I just dropped the edge of the box, just seen that I had a lot of space, then got the ball and just wiggled my way through and just got the shot off.”

It’s a great start for Bonnar and no doubt Rodgers will be delighted at the Celtic midfielder’s immediate impact in his first season in senior football.
