Celtic fans were subjected to new phenomenon as they made their way into the stadium for the League Cup tie against Falkirk.

Celtic blew Falkirk away on the pitch, but off it, inside the stadium, the Parkhead board blew the Bhoys fans away with their crowd control measures.

Celtic have initiated new supporter safety measures prior to the Falkirk match which took fans by surprise.

And last night, the club cleared up the confusion with a statement which has sparked Celtic supporters to offer a perfect solution to the Parkhead board’s safety concerns.

Celtic explain supporter safety measures vs Falkirk

Celtic’s safety measures have caused a bit of a stir this week and the club released a statement on the official website.

It was lengthy, so here are the highlights, “Following some issues with migration to our rail seating area, the intention of introducing these measures was to encourage supporter movement which would avoid congestion at certain points within the stadium, with the measures put in place to ensure the safety of everyone within Celtic Park and in particular to ensure the comfort and safety of those fans who have valid tickets within the rail seating area.”

“In this regard, we are aware of certain issues raised in relation to these additional measures and would like to take this opportunity to thank a number of fans for making us aware of the specific nature of the challenges which were encountered. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and we will ensure that the feedback received is factored into our modified plan moving forward.”

“In addition, supporters should not attempt to access the rail seating area unless you have a valid ticket for this section. These ongoing measures are considered necessary to ensure the safety of everyone within the stadium.”

It seems like this is going to be a permanent feature moving forward and, as always, fan safety is of utmost importance.

But Celtic supporters have a solution and they told the board exactly what they should do.

Parkhead board told to give fans the Celtic End

Two seasons ago Celtic supporters advocated to have a full stand allocated for a safe standing section. And it seems that many believe this would be the answer to solve the safety concerns the Parkhead board has.

@CFCRODGERS18 wasn’t happy and said, “So what fans can’t go and meet up with their mates or family members? Fans can’t pick to go round the stadium to use a different food stand?

“Fans can’t walk around their OWN stadium? Why do you have to CONSTANTLY create a divide with the fans or, hey, make the CELTIC END happen?”

@JohnKennedy2004 (no, not that one) concurred and also suggested, “Give us the Celtic End. The appetite for standing in a singing section is absolutely there (which you know already) and will significantly cut down your migration ‘issues’.”

And finally:

Will the Celtic board listen and take these comments and suggestions seriously? Time will tell but as the relationship between fans and the Parkhead powerbrokers looks fractured, many supporters won’t hold their breath.
