Gustaf Lagerbielke is currently enjoying a loan spell away from Celtic at FC Twente.

Signed by Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, Lagerbielke was barely used since his big summer move and quickly became Celtic’s fifth-choice defender.

The Swedish defender has struggled to get any game time under Rodgers, so Lagerbielke moved to the Eredivisie, where he signed for FC Twente until the end of the season.

Clearly making an impression, Twente’s sporting director Jan Streuer has admitted he wants to take the Celtic defender permanently but has admitted to being left in the dark by the Parkhead club over Lagerbielke’s long-term future.

Sporting director admits he has ‘no idea’ of Celtic’s stance over Gustaf Lagerbielke

Streuer told ESPN’s Goedemorgen Eredivisie, “We’ll have to wait and see. It’s also important what Celtic wants.

“Do they want to keep him? Do they see it in him or not?

“For us, he is a good player. He has a good mentality and is a good header. He is getting better and better.

“But you have no idea what Celtic wants. Do they have good players there? Maybe they want to loan him out for another year. We have to wait and see.”

Gustaf Lagerbielke’s playing stats at Celtic vs FC Twente

Lagerbielke has been enjoying a decent spell in the Netherlands, helping to guide FC Twente to 6th-place in the Dutch top-flight and fighting for a Champions League place.

So here, 67 Hail Hail compares the minutes the Swedish defender is currently getting at his temporary club compared to what he got under Rodgers at Celtic.

Legerbielke is unlikely to feature at Celtic Park again and the best thing for all parties is to find the Swede a new club as soon as his loan deal expires at the end of this season.
