Filip Skorb has now officially signed for Celtic. The youngster put pen to paper and will join the academy this week.

67 Hail Hail brought you the news yesterday morning that the move was unusually announced by his former club on Facebook.

Skorb shared this photo from his agent below onto his Instagram story and it shows the youngster in the Parkhead trophy room putting pen to paper.

Skorb is very highly rated and was being chased by English Premier League clubs as well as Rangers this year.

Leeds and Newcastle United both tried to court the youngster and had him on trial earlier this year but Skorb remained at Portobello Community Football Academy to continue his development.

Described as a ‘free-scoring’ striker, the young forward was also on Rangers’ radar and the Ibrox club had him as a trialist to play against Manchester United in a tournament back in March this year. [Daily Record]

This is great news for the academy and for Celtic in general. Ange Postecoglou has a vision of promoting youngsters from the academy into the first team and although that day is some way off yet (and probably a bit premature to be thinking about), it does look like a legacy is starting to form at Celtic.

With the likes of Ben Summers, Bosun Lawal and Rocco Vata all making first-team appearances this season already, there does seem to be a strong desire by the club to create a pathway to the Celtic men’s side for the youth team.
