Ange Postecoglou will have Celtic fans bubbling by kick-off on Sunday at this rate.
Over the past 18 months, we’ve become used to Postecoglou‘s uncanny knack of saying the right thing at the right time.
He seems to know what people want to hear, and delivers it because he is a proper football fan.
But Postecoglou would never claim to have the same investment in Celtic as our supporters.
Speaking in a interview clip posted by Viaplay Sports, he says: “As much as I’m the manager of this football club, and I’m really passionate about it, I’m not invested in the same way our supporters are.
“I can’t be because they’ve got generations. It would be insulting of me to say that it means the same to me as them.
“But I bear the burden of that responsibility. I know what it means to our people that in these big games we are successful.
“The players understand that, they embrace that responsibility too. When there is so much at stake in terms of the potential repercussions of a result either way, I think that’s brought in to the game.
Postecoglou wasn’t done there. In an earlier answer he referenced football bringing him everything good in his life.
“Whilst my passion for this football club can’t match the passion and the investment of our supporters, I’ve been very invested in this sport.
“It’s been my one obsession my whole life. I’ve loved it. It’s given me everything good that’s in my life, from relationships to the life I’ve led.”
It’s times like these when you can take Postecoglou for granted. His ability to carry the right message when it matters most is second to none.
We’re unlikely to ever find another manager who understands Celtic as well, or is able to articulate that in a way that gets fans on side.
Away from all of the glorious football and winning, it’s why there’s such a close bond between the supporters and the team at present.
