Celtic have sold yet another player for big money.

Matt O’Riley and Kyogo Furuhashi were the two huge exits last season as Brighton paid £26m for the former and Stade Rennais £10m for the latter.

Now, Celtic have banked on Nicolas Kuhn’s departure as his initial £16.5m sale to Como was confirmed on Friday afternoon.

Celtic have made an instant £13.7m profit on the German winger, with more on the way if add-ons are met across his four-year contract in Italy.

Kuhn posts Instagram farewell message to Celtic

Kuhn spoke his first words as a Como player and explained that it was an ‘easy’ decision to join the Serie A outfit managed by Cesc Fabregas.

However, he has issued a goodbye message to Celtic on his Instagram and notes that saying farewell to the Bhoys was difficult.

Posting on his Instagram, Kuhn said: “Thank You, Celtic. Saying goodbye is never easy. Especially to a place that has felt like home from the very beginning.

“Wearing the Celtic shirt, hearing the fans sing, having my own song and being part of this club’s history is something I’ll always be proud of. I’ve grown here not just as a player, but as a person.

“To everyone at the club – teammates, coaches, staff, and especially the supporters – thank you for the love, the trust, and the unforgettable memories.

“Celtic will always be in my heart. Forever grateful, Your Nic.”

Daizen Maeda reacts to Kuhn departure

Kuhn arrived at Celtic in January 2024 from Rapid Wien for just £2.8m, but initially struggled to show his best form due to dental issues.

However, he recovered and after a fantastic pre-season, he started the 2024/25 season like a house on fire.

There’s no doubt that Kuhn and teammate Daizen Maeda were Celtic’s standout stars, with the German unstoppable until the turn of the year when his form dropped off a bit.

Maeda has reacted to Kuhn’s Instagram farewell with a typically lowkey reply. He simply posted two emojis, one showing two fingers pinched and the other a love heart.
