Nicolas Kuhn has completed his Celtic transfer exit to Serie A side Como.

Linked initially with a return to RB Leipzig, Como then made their way to the front of the queue and quickly commenced transfer talks with Celtic.

They wanted to sign three wingers this summer, and two were already in the bag before zoning in on Celtic’s Kuhn.

Now, both Celtic and Como have confirmed the transfer after Kuhn’s medical and the rest of the paperwork was finalised.

Nicolas Kuhn to Como transfer fee & Celtic statement

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph states the initial fee is £16.5m with add-ons. It was previously reported that Kuhn would join for around £17.2m, which probably includes the add-ons.

Celtic issued a statement confirming Kuhn’s exit on their official website, writing: “Nicolas Kuhn has today joined Italian side, Como, on a four-year deal and everyone at Celtic wishes him every success with his new club.

“The 25-year-old German winger joined Celtic from Rapid Vienna back in January 2024, and made the first of 69 appearances for the Hoops that same month in a 1-0 home win over Ross County that same month.

“The first of his 23 goals for Celtic was against Aberdeen at Pittodrie the following month. In total, he scored 23 goals during his time in the Hoops, with 21 of those goals coming last season, when he also contributed an impressive 15 assists.

“And during his time as a Celt, Nicolas Kuhn won two league titles, the Scottish Cup and, last season, the League Cup.

“Everyone at Celtic thanks Nicolas for his contribution to the club and we wish him every success in the future.”

Kuhn’s first Como words and Fabregas verdict

Of course, Como have also officially announced the transfer and uploaded a video of Kuhn in the midst of a photoshoot beside the luxurious Lake Como.

Speaking to Como’s official website, Kuhn said it was an easy call to leave Celtic and sign for the ambitious Serie A club.

He said: “I’m really excited to be here. I had a long chat with the coach and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch, familiarise myself with the stadium and play in front of our fans.

“The decision was easy: the project is ambitious, and I want to be part of it, doing my best to help the team grow and achieve increasingly important goals.

“The city is beautiful — a real film set! I’m happy to start this new adventure in such a beautiful place.”

Cesc Fabregas is the head coach of Como and spoke with Kuhn extensively over the phone to convince him to sign.

Fabregas said of Kuhn’s arrival: “Nico is sharp, technical, and understands space really well. He brings creativity and intensity—qualities that fit exactly how we want to play. He’ll give us something different in Serie A.”
