Celtic Park is a memorable place for even the most experienced of footballers.

Players like Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have marvelled at Celtic fans and the energy they have brought as Man United and Barcelona struggled to overcome the Hoops at home.

Domestically, Celtic are imperious at home and wins almost every game against the opposition with the Parkhead crowd behind them.

But for former Arsenal youngster and Aberdeen loanee Jeffrey Monakana, playing at Paradise has a whole different meaning for him.

Arsenal starlet Jeffrey Monakana will never forget his Celtic Park debut for Aberdeen

Monakana was a rising star in the Arsenal academy when he made his 2014 loan move to Aberdeen. Now out of the game since 2020 due to a career-ending injury, the 30-year-old former midfielder recalls a Celtic Park memory he will never forget.

Monakana told the Press & Journal: “At least I went out in the best way: playing my best football, scoring a whole heap of goals, assisting, helping the other boys, playing overseas.

“I was at peace with it. I wasn’t upset. It was just: ‘Yeah, all right, no problem. Let’s see what’s next.’

“I’ve been able to experience so much. I made my (Aberdeen) debut at Celtic Park…I never thought I’d be doing that!”

The game Celtic beat Aberdeen to give Arsenal youngster an unforgettable memory

The game Monakana is referring to is, of course, Celtic’s 2-1 defeat of Aberdeen under Ronny Deila.

The Celtic team that season has the likes of Scott Brown and Stefan Johansen patrolling the midfield with current captain Callum McGregor deployed as a right winger.

Goals from Jason Denayer and Kris Commons sealed the win after Monakana came on as a second-half substitute for Aberdeen.

Everyone at 67 Hail Hail wishes Monakana all the best for his future endeavours.
