Every Scottish player will be hoping that they get the call from Steve Clarke to say that they’re heading to the World Cup.

Scotland booked their place in the World Cup for the first time since 1990, after beating Denmark 4-2 at Hampden Park last week.

Kieran Tierney’s 92nd minute goal lifted the roof off all of Scotland as the Tartan Army claimed a famous victory.

Those who qualfiy to play for the national team will now be doing everything they can to get on the plane, including a former Celtic academy starlet.

Liam Morrison wants to play for Scotland at the World Cup

Liam Morrison was one of the many Celtic youngsters to flee the nest at a young age.

Morrison left the Hoops to join Bayern Munich but never made it further than the reserve team before signing for English clubs.

The 22-year-old is now playing for Queens Park Rangers, where he has established himself as a first-team regular.

Playing at the World Cup would be a huge honour for him, and he will do everything he can to get the call-up.

He told The Herald: “I think for any young Scottish kid it’s always their dream to go play for Scotland and represent their country. Yeah, it’s a big dream for me definitely.

“The boys that are in the squad have done really well for Scotland, especially qualifying for tournaments recently. They’ve earned their spots right now and I just need to keep proving myself at QPR and hopefully I can get the call-up.

“I think I’ve got a good chance if I can keep going the way I’m going. But as I said, I just need to keep doing what I’m doing at QPR if I want to have a chance of getting in there.

“Ultimately, I just need to keep impressing and keep doing the right things, and hopefully that should earn me a call-up soon.”
