Ange Postecoglou enjoyed two fine years at Celtic before being appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager last summer.
Making a mark in the Premier League due to his intense style of football, the Australian led Spurs to a fifth-placed finish last term and subsequent Europa League ‘league phase’ qualification.
With his team up in Scotland to face Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle, Postecoglou has already started to build ahead of steam, bringing in Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray from Djurgarden and Leeds United, respectively.
Intriguingly, Gray admitted to being a ‘massive’ Celtic fan upon arrival, citing the 58-year-old as a key motivation behind his decision to move to North London.
Now, Postecoglou is reportedly under consideration for an international opening bound to generate worldwide attention.
Ange Postecoglou under consideration from English FA
According to The Telegraph, Postecoglou is under consideration for the vacant England national team post following the departure of Gareth Southgate.
He is expected to be ‘on the list of candidates’ who the Three Lions will run the rule over to become their new manager, the outlet claim. FA technical director John McDermott is an admirer of his work, having followed his coaching journey via Australia, Japan, Scotland and south of the border.
Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino, and Under-21 boss Lee Carsley are also in the frame to succeed Southgate, who decided to call it quits following England’s Euro 2024 final loss to Spain last week.

The possibility of having an interim coach in charge also hasn’t been ruled out; Carsley is said to be the main contender on that basis amid upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland in September.
Postecoglou has been profiled by the English Football Association for a number of years, though there is no indication of whether he would consider the role. Spurs would be very difficult to deal with in that respect.
They are open to hiring a foreign manager and won’t limit themselves in finding the right person for the job. Celtic fans know all about his excellent managerial skills, and it appears others have also sat up and took notice as the search to fill the opening commences.
