Former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers should be eyeing a move to one of the world’s best clubs for his next job.

Pundits continue to speak about the possibility of Rodgers’ next club being a traditional English giant. However, his capabilities prove that he can go even higher and boss the best clubs in the world.

He went to the Foxes for a reported £9 million and took the vast majority of his staff with him mid-season.

Despite the aggro surrounding the move, it’s proving to be a personal masterstroke by Rodgers. Yesterday’s win at Crystal Palace has put third placed Leicester just two points of Manchester City. He is playing fantastic football and is continuing the hard work he put in at Celtic for two and a half years.

Rodgers is expected to go up the footballing ladder but remaining in England. Managers such as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Unai Emery are on a shoogly peg.

Results suggest both may not see out the season and would be the type of job Rodgers would move for. However, the former Celt should ignore the white noise linking him to these jobs.

Brendan Rodgers is a better fit for Barcelona

The 46-year-old is well known in world football for developing youth players into superstars. His track record at every level in each of his clubs is proving that. Players such as Kieran Tierney, James Forrest, Ryan Christie and lately James Maddison can attest to that.

Rodgers’ background work behind the scenes has also been commended and the results are fruitful.

This is why Barcelona are the ideal club for Rodgers to continue his redevelopment of football clubs.

Barcelona are falling behind when it comes to the youths in La Masia breaking into the first team. Rodgers would rip up the tired structure that clearly isn’t working for the La Liga champs.

Barcelona’s first team are also trailing this season with their latest match a 3-1 defeat at Levante.

The calibre of player at Barcelona will only see exceeding results with Rodgers’ blue print looking over it. Results could be similar to the famous season where Liverpool got painfully close to winning the Premier League. He would also be linking up with his former striker in Luis Suarez which would be an added incentive.

Furthermore, he speaks the language and, on an even lighter note, Rodgers likes a sun tan.

It would be a bold move by the Barcelona board and there are no links to Rodgers so far. Nevertheless, Barcelona match Rodgers’ ambitions and it would be a deserved move for him.
