Former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has completed a move to join Scottish Championship side, Greenock Morton.
The Nigerian international spent a period of five years at Parkhead between 2012-2017 after signing under Neil Lennon.
During his spell with the club, Ambrose became somewhat of a cult hero to small sections of the Celtic support as an unpredictable player at the centre of defence.
Since his departure during Brendan Rodgers tenure as boss, the 34-year-old has continued playing his football in the United Kingdom.
Following two spells at Hibernian, Ambrose then tried his luck south of the border, spending a few months at English side Derby County.
However, his time at Pride Park didn’t last too long, and after several months without a club, he returned to Scotland, joining up with Livingston in February 2020.
His release from the club came in the summer of last year before he made another move within the Scottish Premiership, signing for Callum Davidson’s double cup-winning side last campaign.
After failing to secure regular game time, Ambrose completed the temporary loan move to join Dunfermline Athletic. But he couldn’t help save the Pars from relegation.
Across recent weeks and months, the experienced central defender has been training with Hamilton Accies, and some were expecting him to sign a permanent deal at New Douglas Park.

Ambrose signs for sixth Scottish club, over 10 years on from Parkhead move.
However, today it was announced Ambrose would be joining one of their Scottish Championship rivals, Greenock Morton, signing for Dougie Imrie’s side on a short-term deal until the end of the season
The 47-time capped international will be looking to help fire his new side to an unlikely promotion spot, with Morton sitting just three points off 1st place after 12 games in the second tier.
Although I am sure Ambrose will bring some experience to the backline at Cappielow, there is also the risk of some unpredictable moments when he is part of the central defensive pairing.
We wish Efe all the very best of luck after making the move to his sixth Scottish side, ten years on from his original move to Parkhead.
Here’s hoping we don’t see too many clips of defensive howlers and, instead, some video footage of his memorable acrobatic celebrations!
