Former Celtic defender Gary Caldwell appears to be doing well in his latest managerial job.
The ex-Hoops star is now in charge of League One side Exeter City after taking over last October. Caldwell‘s side finished 14th last season and are currently in the play-off positions after a good start to the season.
However, his side seem to be saving their best for the League Cup. Exeter have now advanced through three rounds in the competition, reaching the last 16 alongside the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Their latest success came against Premier League opposition in the shape of Luton Town. The top-flight newcomers went down 1-0 at St. James Park this midweek, with former Hearts and Hibs man Demetri Mitchell netting the winner.

Exeter have been drawn at home in every round so far. That run continued in Wednesday night’s draw as they were paired with Championship strugglers Middlesbrough in what must be considered a winnable tie.
Caldwell, who won four trophies at Celtic, has been a manager for a number of years now, first taking on the job at Wigan Athletic in 2015. He has also managed Chesterfield and Partick Thistle and was Loans Coach at Manchester City for a period too.

It is nice to see him doing well in the game. With Exeter just three points behind table-topping Portsmouth, you’d like to think that bigger clubs will at least be aware of his exploits.
As you may expect, he has a number of familiar Scottish football names playing for him. That includes Jack Aitchison — the former Celtic forward who became our youngest-ever goalscorer back in 2016.
