Former Celtic youth player Sam Wardrop has become a hit on social networking site TikTok.

Now at Scottish League One side Dumbarton, Wardrop takes viewers through his preferred training regimes, pre-match diets and updates on injuries in an engaging and entertaining way.

His videos have racked up millions of views since he started the account, with hundreds of thousands of likes applied.

Wardrop’s breakthrough, and biggest, video appears to be a run through his morning and afternoon routines around a return to training at Dumbarton in March.

More than 850,000 views have been registered on that one alone.

Right now his account is followed by over 31,400 people, which is almost three times as many followers Dumbarton have as a whole on Twitter.

Credit has to be given to Wardrop for using social media in an innovative and fresh way for Scottish football.

He also has a podcast, posts helpful videos on Instagram and is a fitness trainer away from football.

His videos really give an insight into the life of a lower league footballer, while also providing tips for those who train regularly.

Wardrop is a former youth captain at Celtic, wearing the armband for a brilliant 2017 Scottish Youth Cup win over Rangers at Hampden. He also managed to get himself on the scoresheet that night alongside Calvin Miller and Aidan McIlduff.

A move to Dundee United followed before landing a permanent contract with Dumbarton. He had previously enjoyed two loan spells at the Sons.

Still only 23, there’s plenty of time left in his career to move up the leagues. It’d be a fascinating journey if he keeps his video diaries up!

In other news, Eddie Howe has been quietly planning in the background for Celtic job.
