Viljami Sinisalo made his big move from Aston Villa to Celtic just last summer.
Arriving at the Hoops as number two to Kasper Schmeichel, Sinisalo has made just two appearances in a Celtic jersey this season.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper has had to wait for his chance as Schmeichel’s performances wowed the Celtic supporters.
However, after Schmeichel was injured on Denmark duty, Sinisalo has now been thrust into the limelight and has become Celtic’s number one for the foreseeable future.
And here, the Finnish goalkeeper shares how he has become close to his mentor since his big move to Celtic nine months ago.

Kasper Schmeichel’s touch of class as injured Celtic hero offers support to Viljami Sinisalo
With Schmeichel said to be out of action for about six weeks and likely to miss some of the biggest games of the season, what does the Celtic goalkeeper do? Wallow in self-pity?
Absolutely not as Sinisalo explains how he has been supported by the injured Celtic hero.
Sinisalo told The Herald: “We swapped a couple of messages.
“He’s been really, really, really supportive. He’s someone I’ve always looked up to since I was really, really young.
“Obviously, we wish all the very best for him and a speedy recovery. But, yeah, he’s been great since day one when we both came in, and we’ve been really close.
“Like I said, he’s someone I’ve always looked up to a lot, and he’s been great with me.”
Kasper Schmeichel’s Celtic injury return timeline
Brendan Rodgers gave a six-week timeline for Schmeichel to return to Celtic duty after his injury.
However, the Celtic boss shared what the Denmark international’s thoughts were and it’s good news for the Celtic support.
Rodgers said, “We’ve had some news, and we’ll see over the course of the next five to six weeks, is what was mentioned.
“But this is just something that day by day we have a look at it. But the timeline that was given to us was around about that.
“But Kasp tends to think it might not be as long as that. Certainly in the immediate future he won’t be available.”
With a Scottish Cup semi-final on the 20th of April and another game against Rangers at Ibrox to play, Celtic fans will be hoping to see Schmeichel fit and available for both fixtures.
However, in the unlikely event that that does not happen, Sinisalo’s performance against Hearts has shown that he is more than up to the task of looking after Celtic goalkeeping gloves until his mentor is ready to return.
