Brendan Rodgers has delivered a timeline on when he expects Kasper Schmeichel to return from injury for Celtic.

The Celtic manager has relied on Schmeichel in all but two games this season, as Viljami Sinisalo now gets the chance to prove that he has what it takes to become a Celtic goalkeeper.

Schmeicherl was injured on international duty in Denmark’s defeat to Portugal last week and has been working hard behind the scenes at Celtic to get fir.

However, Rodgers has delivered a timeline on when he expects to see his Hoops number one back in action but it is a view that is not shared by the Celtic first team keeper.

Kasper Schmeichel rejects six six-week injury return timeline set by Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers

Rodgers said that he expects his number one goalkeeper to be back in around six weeks time but the Celtic gaffer has also shared what Schmeichel thinks of that.

Rodgers told Celtic TV, “We’ve had some news, and we’ll see over the course of the next five to six weeks, is what was mentioned.

“But this is just something that day by day we have a look at it. But the timeline that was given to us was around about that.

“But Kasp tends to think it might not be as long as that. Certainly in the immediate future he won’t be available.”

When asked if he thought Schmeichel could return before then, Rodgers replied, “Yeah, I believe so.

“But, like I say, we’ll just have to keep an eye on it.”

Kasper Schmeichel’s top three Champions League games for Celtic

A Celtic goalkeeper, despite tending to not have much to do over 90 minutes, still requires a high level of concentration and that is why the position is so unique at Parkhead.

But in the Champions League, the landscape is very different. Schmeichel was tested this season in Europe’s elite competition, so here are the big Dane’s best three performances in a Celtic shirt this season.
