If you had offered Celtic a chance to win the title on the last day of the season, if they simply won their respective match, then everybody would have snapped your hands off.

That’s exactly the scenario Martin O’Neill and Celtic find themselves in, after a season of unrest, constant fan protests, managerial changes, and drama like never before.

The rest of the footballing world can cry, moan, and be angry at Celtic’s win over Motherwell, but it was epic of the highest order.

How Celtic players, past and present, reacted to title drama at Fir Park

Put aside the noise around the penalty, Kelechi Iheanacho still needed to dispatch his spot kick under so much pressure.

Remember his debut goal for Celtic against Kilmarnock? That winning penalty also came right at the death, so he has history, and it has repeated itself during the most crucial of moments.

Once again, Iheanacho showed his cool, and Kris Commons was right to laud the striker on his Instagram story by stating, ‘Bravo, sir.’

Of course, you had several current players reacting to Celtic’s huge win at Fir Park, but also some who have recently left the building.

Mikey Johnston, who left Celtic for West Brom in 2024, couldn’t hide his joy, as he added on his IG story, ‘magic that.’
