The dust will probably never settle from the chaotic scenes that unfolded between Celtic and Motherwell on Wednesday evening.
Unfortunately, from Celtic’s perspective, they will forever be tainted with that penalty award, even if the correct call was made to punish the opposition with a handball offence.
The simple reason is that the footballing world has gone mad over Celtic’s last-gasp penalty at Fir Park, with many feeling that the incorrect call was made by on-field referee John Beaton and VAR.
It’s a key reason why Motherwell’s social media team has issued a pretty pointed message, where they want to ‘shift the focus’ to their final game of the season this weekend, as ‘the world of football mocks our game.’
BE HONEST: Do you think Celtic’s late penalty should’ve been given…? 👀

Motherwell want to ‘draw the line’ after Celtic penalty drama
This game wasn’t just significant in keeping Celtic’s title hopes alive heading into that Hearts showdown, but also Motherwell’s chances of securing fourth spot in the Premiership table.
As all the attention was on the game in North Lanarkshire, over at Ibrox, Hibernian slapped Rangers to another defeat, and maintained their hopes of leapfrogging Jens Berthel Askou’s side on the final day.
Nonetheless, with Celtic’s win over Motherwell still being talked about, the opposition posted a six-minute video of the drama that unfolded, including the incident right at the death.
Motherwell labelled the video, ‘Catching the attention of the world// Motherwell 2-3 Celtic.’
What’s also interesting is that they also showed that Motherwell’s keeper charging into Daizen Maeda in the first half inside the penalty area, which, funnily enough, isn’t being talked about enough as the penalty award.
“As the world of football mocks our game, we simply have to draw a line in the sand and shift the focus,” wrote Motherwell on social media.
“With the dust settling, we take pride in our display and push one final time on Saturday.”
