The pressure is really starting to crank up on the Celtic board this weekend.

With a Celtic fan protest organised for the trip to Kilmarnock, the Parkhead club’s hierarchy are in for an embarrassing afternoon.

Celtic supporters have had enough after watching a shambolic transfer window end tamely which was then followed up with a hit piece in the Scottish media about Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

The article has been roundly criticised by ex-Celtic players, fan media and pundits and next up to eviscerate the piece is Hoops hero Peter Grant.

Peter Grant fires shots at the ‘press men’ who ‘done negatives on Celtic boss

Grant is undoubtedly one of the most passionate Celtic fans who works in the media right now. And when asked about the piece in The Scottish Sun about Brendan Rodgers last week, the Hoops hero did not hold back.

Grant told The Go Radio Football Show, “I agree with what he’s saying because it’s two experienced press men who did negatives on Brendan last week.

“And then the next day, it was similar, it was a leak. And you’re thinking, Brendan knows there’s someone behind it. But it was two experienced journalists.

“I’m a great believer, Paul, that if you’ve got something to say, you have to put your name to it. You can’t throw it out there and not be willing to stand up and take the flack that comes along with it, whether you’re right or whether you’re wrong.”

Grant went on further to say that the people who went to The Scottish Sun should have been brave enough to put their names to the quotes instead of hiding behind anonymity.

Grant continued, “And Brendan, obviously, has got a feeling, he knows who it is. The interesting thing for me today, the ones that put it out and said it, were they at the press conference today?

“Because I know the type of character I am. I’d have asked them in front of everyone. They’d maybe not tell me. But if they’re willing to put that out there about me, and it’s me they’re talking about, they’re not talking about Celtic or that. That was a direct hit at Brendan on both occasions. I’d have asked who it was.

“And it’s funny. It’s experienced, guys. It’s not kids. But I think you’ve got to follow that up. You’ve got to be brave enough to stand up and say, put a name to it. I’m talking about the ones that have given the information.

“Put your name to it. Don’t hide behind something. That’s what I think is cowardly more than anything else.”

There are various Celtic fan theories on message boards and on social media on who they think is behind the anonymous statement against Rodgers.

Unfortunately, they cannot be proven unless someone at the club speaks out which, as every Celtic supporters knows by now, will never happen.

As Celtic supporters prepare for today’s protest at Kilmarnock, the board will now need to prepare themselves for the inevitable fall-out, which will not be pretty.
