What a week it has been for Celtic supporters as the international break has been swallowed up by fan action against the board.

The Celtic board have come under some serious fire after the summer transfer window saw the club sell some of their top talents and fail to replace them with players of similar or better quality.

A Celtic ‘insider’ appeared to apportion blame on a split in the Parkhead corridors on Brendan Rodgers after a story had run last week that there were those on the board unhappy about his comments on the transfer strategy the club has.

The piece was roundly hounded by Celtic supporters, fan media and ex-players and when the club released a statement to address the Hoops supporters’ concerns on Saturday night, fans were apoplectic and it set off a chain of events the board clearly never thought would happen.

And that chain of events were summed up perfectly by The Affiliation of Celtic Supporters Clubs in a damning statement this week.

The Affiliation of Celtic Supporters Clubs slam the Parkhead board’s ‘cold and clinical’ statement

The Celtic board statement didn’t recognise the concerns of the Parkhead support who have not just been demanding answers on the transfer window but also the club’s ambition regarding Europe.

And reacting to what the club said, The Affiliation of Celtic Supporters Clubs issued a vote of no confidence in the Parkhead suits.

The statement said on X, “The Affiliation of Registered Celtic Supporters Clubs wishes to express its deep disappointment with the statement issued by Celtic FC on 6th September.

“The statement was cold, clinical, and devoid of genuine emotion. It failed to engage with the concerns raised by our members, offering instead a sterile response steeped in corporate jargon and financial defensiveness.

“This tone not only dismisses the passion and intelligence of the Celtic support but also signals a worrying detachment from the values that have long defined our club.

“Celtic Football Club was built on foundations of inclusion, integrity, and solidarity. The current direction, as reflected in the Club’s statement and recent actions, risks eroding those very principles. “

The rage that the Affiliations’ CSCs are feeling right now has come to a boiling point and the association’s statement explains their reasons behind the vote of no confidence in the board.

The statement goes on, “Our members feel unheard, and the lack of meaningful engagement undermines the trust that should exist between the club and its supporters.

“Following extensive consultation, the Affiliation has now held a formal vote of no confidence in the Club’s leadership. The result was clear and unanimous: our supporters clubs do not support the current Board’s approach or its handling of recent events.

“The Affiliation remains committed to constructive engagement, but we will not stand by while our concerns are dismissed or diluted.

“The relationship between Club and supporters must be more than transactional – it must be rooted in shared purpose, mutual respect, and the values that define Celtic’s identity.”

This Celtic board have never experienced such a movement by supporters, fan media and Ultra groups and are now under serious pressure this season.

If Celtic’s domestic dominance is threatened due to the club overseeing a clear dismantling of the Hoops first-team, then those in power will come under even more scrutiny as the season goes on.

Having said that, even if the title is won or even a treble is achieved, Celtic supporters will not back down unless there is a major shift in the club’s vision or even a change at the top.
