Celtic’s late win against Motherwell is just what every fan needed.
Celtic fan unrest has been rife this season as the Parkhead board come under pressure after a disastrous summer transfer window was followed up with some bizarre media activity from the club.
However, all that was put to one side as Celtic rallied to record a late win over Motherwell whilst their rivals across the city floundered again.
Rangers’ draw with Falkirk left the Ibrox club nine points behind Celtic and just four points off the bottom and Gerry McCulloch spotted the perfect opportunity to take a dig at the Govan club.

Gerry McCulloch recognises all the ‘big clubs’ in trouble this season on Celtic TV, but not Rangers
Speaking post-match, McCulloch was looking over all the results in the league when he took a look at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership to stick the boot into Rangers.
In a thinly veiled dig at the Ibrox club, McCulloch said on Celtic TV, “Daizen Maeda gets the winning goal here at Celtic Park this afternoon having played all three positions up front.
“And hopefully that result and that performance can really start some sort of resurgence and get his confidence going.
“Football is a confidence game for the players, and this afternoon, they had to battle to win this one. Results elsewhere, Aberdeen are 4-0 winners against Dundee.
“Falkirk got a second-half equaliser against Rangers, that one finished one apiece. So the Premiership table at the end of the weekend’s fixtures, Hearts are still top of the league, but they’re only two points ahead of Celtic who are on 17.

“Motherwell, you can see they’re down there with just eight points. And the teams in the bottom six, a lot of big teams down there, the likes of Hibs and Aberdeen at the bottom of the table, but a good afternoon for Celtic who take three points, that was what was needed.”
A subtle nod to the big clubs at the bottom of the table whilst ignoring Rangers was a class little jab towards the Ibrox club fans really enjoy.
Brendan Rodgers must steer Celtic to a strong October finish
Celtic must win their three remaining Scottish Premiership fixtures in October.
If Rodgers can take Celtic to wins over Dundee, Hearts and Falkirk that will pile more misery onto Rangers and help to burst the Edinburgh club’s title bubble.
With Hearts on a great run, it would be interesting to see how they handle a defeat with the world watching their challenge to Celtic.
If they take a defeat to Celtic as badly as Aberdeen did last season, then Hearts’ season could spiral if their mentality comes into question.
It’s going to be an interesting month for Celtic fans.
