"Giakoumagic"; Hart, Juranovic and Dutch club flock to Celtic hero's Instagram

Dutch club VVV Venlo were amongst the well-wishers to Giorgos Giakoumakis this weekend after he posted on Instagram to celebrate his superb Celtic hat-trick.

Giakoumakis moved on to 12 goals for the season yesterday with a fine skewering of Ross County, his second hat-trick in a month at Celtic Park.

He’s proven to be a formidable scoring presence for the team in the absence of Kyogo Furuhashi and was delighted on the social media site after the game, stating: “One more stunning performance from the team! Happy also for my goals!”

Joe Hart, Josip Juranovic and Stephen Welsh were all in the comments section, alongside his form club VVV Venlo.

Giakouamkis was a scoring sensation for them last season, netting 29 goals in 33 appearances despite their eventual relegation.

The Greek international, dubbed ‘Giakoumagic’ by Venlo, could end up Celtic’s top scorer this season as well. He is now only four behind Kyogo and you wouldn’t have thought he’s finished scoring goals before the end of May.

He’s certainly in contention to start to upcoming derby against Rangers with Daizen Maeda putting in strong shifts on the wing.

We may have only scratched the surface when it comes to Giakoumakis’ popularity with the Celtic support. Right now, it’s blossoming from the bud of fitness inconsistency in the first half of the season very nicely.
