Giorgos Giakoumakis spotted back in Celtic training ahead of Ross County
Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis has been spotted in training footage posted by the club on Instagram this afternoon.
The Bhoys social media team were following Kyogo Furuhashi in their latest player focus series on the social media site.
In the final ‘story’ posted, you could clearly see Giakoumakis training with his teammates, having apparently recovered from the issue that kept him out against Rangers at the weekend.
This is obviously a big boost to the options of Ange Postecoglou ahead of a crucial Scottish Premiership encounter away to Ross County.
The manager had previously aired his hopes the Greek international would be fit for the match despite missing the Hampden semi-final.
He was badly missed against our rivals, with that physical presence in the final third hard to replicate with other options. It also meant Daizen Maeda’s excellent pressing ability was absent in the wide areas.
Kyogo is obviously an option on Sunday too but it remains to be seen whether Ange Postecoglou reckons he’ll be able to feature from the start.
It’s important to remember he missed a lot of football and that going into these games requires players at a physical peak, given what is at stake.
Giakoumakis may well be the man to go with in an effort to break down a defensive and determined Ross County side this weekend.
