Only winning games of football will shut down the negative noise at Celtic.
It’s crazy how everything has flipped on its head within a week, as the fallout continues from Celtic’s defeat to St Mirren on Sunday in the League Cup final.
In Wilfried Nancy’s first game in charge, many would have seen Celtic’s new coach regularly calling over Callum McGregor to the touchline.
That has since continued, but it wasn’t met with a positive response during Celtic’s humbling from St Mirren at Hampden.
Does Wilfried Nancy have the belief of the Celtic players?

Wilfried Nancy and Callum McGregor situation during Celtic’s defeat to St Mirren
The Go Radio panel discussed Nancy calling McGregor over at one stage, including ‘shouting’ at Celtic’s skipper.
Charlie Mulgrew was critical of Nancy’s actions by stating that he ‘didn’t see any reason’ why he needed to do that because, at the time, Celtic were riding a positive wave on the pitch.
Either way, host Paul Cooney agreed that it just ‘wasn’t a good look’, as the Hoops fell to another defeat.
Paul Cooney: “Certainly, you could see, it’s not a good look, the way he is shouting at the captain. We saw it in the first game, didn’t we?! It’s not a great look in a cup final.
“You know what it’s like at Hampden. Trying to get instructions across.”
Mulgrew: “The point where he is shouting McGregor over, I think Celtic were going through their best spell of the game. I didn’t see any reason why you would shout him over.
“I think that was too much information. That was clear to see.”
Is this the worst Celtic have been in ‘over 30 years’?
The perfect advice to Nancy from Martin O’Neill
The issue here is that these touchline chats, use of tactics boards, or whatever it may be, will continue to be brought up if Celtic don’t start winning matches quickly.
Many are questioning just how long Nancy has because there is little time to rest ahead of Celtic’s showdown against Dundee United on Wednesday night.
This is where Nancy is going to need his senior players and leaders to step up – McGregor, Kieran Tierney, and Kasper Schmeichel, to name a few.
And as Martin O’Neill put in during his talkSPORT interview on Monday, Nancy needs to ‘lean on’ the senior players in the dressing room.
“There are some excellent players at the football club,” stated O’Neill. “There are some boys who have won big times.
“The captain is a terrific example there. Really, really good. Was brilliant for me and to me. Sometimes, just lean on the senior players. Just lean on them and get them on your side.”
