Former Celtic player and Sky Sports pundit Davie Provan reckons that Dermot Desmond and the Hoops board are playing with financial fire right now.
It’s around this time of the year that the club stitches together the final messaging and branding on their season ticket renewal campaign ahead of correspondence being sent out to tens of thousands of fans.
However, with so much uncertainty surrounding Celtic of late, it’s hard to fathom how the club will go about that.
Certainly, senior figures haven’t been forthcoming with communication on the future of the club recently.
The only people we’ve really heard from have been interim boss John Kennedy, thrust into the spotlight, as well as a collection of players.
Provan is bemused by the silence from the Celtic board and thinks it could impact season ticket sales.
Writing in his weekly Scottish Sun column, he said: “What is going on at Celtic?
“Neil Lennon has gone, Peter Lawwell is going, Scott Brown is tipped for a role under Stephen Glass at Aberdeen.
“Around a dozen players will leave this summer and a new sporting director needs hired before new supremo Dominic McKay arrives.
“Meanwhile, we haven’t heard a word from Dermot Desmond or chairman Ian Bankier.
“Good luck with season- ticket sales.”
Are Dermot Desmond and the Celtic board taking fans for granted again?
If we approach the current silence at Celtic in good faith, it could be said that there has to be an element of trust in the actions that the club are taking.
There is a confidence that the club are at least on the hunt, as well as in discussions, regarding a sporting director and new first-team manager.
However, it’s understandable why some would be calling key figures at the club into question. The silence is deafening and it has been for large sections of the season.

We can only hope that the club are waiting to get all their ducks in a row before going on the PR offensive with regards to the new Celtic era.
Provan is right about one thing though. The longer the status quo goes on, the harder it will be to sell season tickets for next year.
In other news, Adam Montgomery is on the brink of a first-team opportunity at Celtic.
