It’s all change across the road from Celtic as Rangers appoint a new manager.
Russell Martin will be in the Ibrox dugout next season to try and stop Celtic’s utter dominance of Scottish football.
Brendan Rodgers has had many challenges put in front of him during his time in the Celtic Park dugout, and every time, there is more noise than action from the other side.
That’s why Rodgers has won four titles out of four in Glasgow, including 11 trophies in total, but he isn’t the only one who has wiped the floor with Rangers.
When Steven Gerrard stopped the ten, it was all change at Celtic, including the club bringing in Ange Postecoglou from the J-League.
And the name of the Treble-winning coach was brought up when discussing Martin’s arrival at Rangers.

Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou compared to Rangers’ new boss Russell Martin
There has been some negative noise from Rangers fans at the Martin appointment, and you don’t blame them.
They were dreaming of Davide Ancelotti as the manager, and Luka Modric coming in as a player. But that’s why you dream.
Gordon Dalziel reacted to those noises and proceeded to compare Martin to Postecoglou, including claiming ‘nobody wanted him’ when he first came to Scotland, as he told talkSPORT.
But what Dalziel needs to understand is that, other than the fact that the most important people at Celtic wanted him, the rest doesn’t matter.
“If I were a Rangers fan, I would be in the same camp, if I go along there, get my season ticket, look forward to the new takeover, look forward to who the new coach is, and be excited,” said Dalziel.
“I would be like ‘oh, hold on a minute. Was that what I was looking for?” – but you have to give the guy as much backing and support as you possibly can.
“Who says he doesn’t hit the ground running? Who says Rangers fans don’t like the brand of football? Because they have been starved of that for years now, for me.
“Postecoglou came to Scotland. Nobody wanted him. Nobody had heard of him. They wondered where this appointment was coming from, and he was absolutely brilliant for Celtic. I am not saying Russell Martin is going to be the same.”
Postecoglou’s record before he joined Celtic
Postecoglou’s managerial journey has been a memorable one, including how he has fought his way to the top.
But, whilst there were some noises about ‘who is Postecoglou?’ before he arrived.
The fact of the matter is that his record in the dugout is far greater than Martin’s when you compare the duo from when they first stepped into Glasgow.
- Postecoglou’s trophy count before he joined Celtic – 13
- Postecoglou’s trophy count since joining Celtic – 6
