Maura Healey, the Governor of Massachusetts, has endorsed Celtic with a Scotland fan in Boston.

Of course, Boston has been awash with Scotland fans this week, with the Tartan Army making the most of their first World Cup in 28 years.

Among them are plenty of Celtic fans, who will no doubt have been enjoying the city’s historical Irish heritage.

Healey, a vocal fan of the Boston Celtics, showed no lack of knowledge about their Scottish football counterparts in Glasgow.

Maura Healey’s brilliant Celtic shoutout: ‘That’s where it all started’

In the clip, available via @Jameriqy on Instagram, Healey says: “The Glasgow Celtic, yeah!

“We have the Boston Celtics… Glasgow Celtic, that’s where it all started. In 1888!”, she added, with an obligatory can of Irn Bru in her hand.

Healey herself is of Irish heritage, with several of her grandparents and great-grandparents born in the country.

As you will be aware, the Scots have truly taken over Boston this week, even swarming the iconic Fenway Park for a party at a Red Sox MLB match.

As for the Scotland team, it was a night of celebration last Saturday after a 1-0 win over Haiti delivered the nation’s first tournament victory in almost 40 years.

On Friday, however, celebrations were tempered by a defeat to Morocco, a game in which Steve Clarke’s men really didn’t turn up.

They remain in search of an elusive point as the Tartan Army switch city to Miami, where they will face Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil.

Kieran Tierney and Anthony Ralston are in the squad, whilst ex-Celts Ben Gannon-Doak, Ryan Christie, Jack Hendry and Craig Gordon are also involved.
