Scotland got their World Cup campaign off to the perfect start with a 1-0 win over Haiti, but one moment before kick-off caught the attention of plenty of Celtic supporters.

As the Scotland squad arrived, Kieran Tierney was spotted carrying a Celtic bag while getting off the team bus, something supporters quickly picked up on online.

Celtic supporters spotted it straight away

Tierney’s return to Celtic means every appearance he makes is likely to attract extra attention from supporters. That was certainly the case before Scotland faced Haiti.

Fans quickly noticed the Celtic bag as the left-back arrived with Steve Clarke’s squad. There was nothing staged about the moment and no obvious message being sent. It was simply a brief glimpse of Tierney going about his business ahead of a major international fixture.

Yet that is exactly why so many supporters enjoyed it.

It is the sort of thing Celtic fans appreciate about Tierney

Tierney has always been viewed differently by the Celtic support because of his connection to the club. Even during his years away from Glasgow, there was never much doubt about where his football roots were.

That is why a simple image like this can generate so much discussion. It was not an interview, a social media post or a carefully planned photo opportunity. It was just Tierney arriving for Scotland duty.

Scotland’s victory over Haiti was naturally the main story on the night. However, Tierney’s arrival generated plenty of discussion among Celtic supporters.

Many Celtic supporters were equally amused by the sight of Tierney arriving with Celtic colours already on display.

It was a small moment, but one that perfectly summed up why he remains such a popular figure among the Parkhead support.
