The Green Brigade are the latest group to respond to the recent results of the Celtic fan survey.

Celtic finally released the results of the fan survey a year after it was sent to supporters to gauge what the feeling was like in the stands.

Tensions between supporters and the board have escalated in recent weeks, which included a pre-match protest before the Falkirk game.

A statement from the Celtic fan collective said that they hoped that this would be the start of more transparent dialogue between the club and fans, and now the Green Brigade have also had their say.

Green Brigade respond to Celtic fan survey results

Ever since the Green Brigade were formed in 2006, their long-term vision has been to introduce a ‘Celtic Stand’.

Instead of their usual corner, they have campaigned to turn the Jock Stein Lower Stand into a full standing section in a bid to improve the matchday atmosphere.

In the results, it claimed that 60 per cent of fans would like this to happen, with 52 per cent of season ticket holders expressing interest in being a part of a standing section.

As a response, the Green Brigade called on the club to provide more information about the move going forward.

It said: “In February 2023, ‘The Celtic End’ was launched to propose the idea of turning the Jock Stein Lower Stand into a standing section.

“For some time, it has been obvious to most fans that Celtic Park needs an increased standing section to improve supporter experience, enhance the matchday atmosphere and mitigate health and safety concerns caused by insufficient standing capacity.

“With the long awaited release of the Celtic FC Fan Survey, we are delighted that at least 60% of match going fans have validated our calls.

“Broken down further, a 52% majority of Season Ticket holders expressed interest in being part of a standing section and 59% indicated that they would be open to either being moved to facilitate a standing section or remain in place as part of one.

“Broken down per stand, only the Main Stand returned a majority ‘No’ for interest in moving to a standing section.

“This presents a clear mandate for an increased standing section and we welcome the fact that the club has stated twice that work is underway in respect of this.

“In conjunction with the commitment to improve supporter engagement processes (also reflected in the Fan Survey), it is imperative that supporters play a meaningful role in exploring and implementing a new standing section.

“We would ask that the club be more transparent around what work has already taken place and commit to including supporters as part of the full process as soon as possible, and not used merely to form a consultation.”
