As Celtic enjoys a successful tour of the USA, Greg Taylor has said that he loves watching one player after what he did for the club last season.

Taylor has played in both pre-season wins against DC United and Manchester City where Matt O’Riley and Nicolas Khun have really shone for Celtic.

But as the Celtic fullback runs the rule over his teammates, Taylor admits that there is one player in the team he can’t get enough of watching after his form at the end of last season helped seal a league and Scottish Cup double.

Taylor praises Celtic ‘lion’

James Forrest is a player who is synonymous with Celtic. The one-club man has been at the club since he was just a boy and Taylor says he’s still as good now even though he is at the ripe old age of 33.

Taylor said [Daily Record print edition page 50], “He’s an unbelievable player, he showed it again against DC United. The way he finished last season, the last 12 games.

“We finished the season really strongly and Jamesie was a big catalyst in that so it’s good to see he’s taken that form into pre-season.

“He’s a lion, what a player, man. He’s a joy to watch out there.”

The Scotland winger is one of Celtic’s most decorated players in their history with 24 winner’s medals to his name.

It cannot be denied that his contribution last season was a major contributory factor in Celtic eventually getting not just the league title over the line, but also the Scottish Cup after what he did in the semi-final against Aberdeen.

That was exactly the reason why Steve Clarke called him up to the Scotland squad for Euro 2024 and then, rather bizarrely, didn’t play him.

Now into the final year of his contract, Forrest may well feel that he still has something to offer Brendan Rodgers beyond next season and no doubt, he will go into the new season with exactly that point to prove.
