Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam is gossip-mongering about Celtic again, claiming he’s heard that Nir Bitton was causing trouble at the Bhoys this summer on PLZ Soccer.
He said: “Kristoffer Ajer’s been all over the place this season because he wants out. There are one or two little grumblings I’m hearing at Celtic as well, that the lad’s wanted to go away in this last window to try and get out, Nir Bitton causing a little bit of an issue.”
I’m not quite sure what Adam is driving at here.
Is he claiming Bitton wanted out, as PLZ Soccer have editorialised in their tweet, or was the Israeli midfielder meant to have been causing problems with Ajer?
Or is he simply referencing the recent pandemic-related drama?
Either way, there doesn’t seem to be much basis to his comments, beyond a mysterious rumour.
Bitton signed a new Celtic contract less than a year ago, in December 2019.
He has acted nothing but professionally during his time at the club, even during spells when he’s been far away from a first-choice pick in the manager’s starting eleven.
It would be a major surprise if Bitton was causing trouble behind the scenes.
This isn’t the first time Adam has been spreading a bit of gossip about Celtic players this season.

Earlier this year he said he’d heard through the grapevine that Albian Ajeti wasn’t as good as made out.
The Swiss international has since gone on to score five Scottish Premiership goals despite fleeting appearances in the Hoops first-team.
That about sums up his punditry, doesn’t it?
