Maik Nawrocki has not had the best time of it at Celtic since his big 2023 summer move. However, at Hannover, the big Polish defender is loving his time on loan at the Bundesliga club.
Nawrocki has been on fire after scoring for Hannover in their Bundesliga 2 derby match against Eintracht Braunschweig at the weekend.
But it seems that his permanent future at the Bundesliga club could be under threat after Hannover sacked sporting director Jorg Schmadtke just days after he set a timeline on possibly buying Nawrocki from Celtic this summer.
Should Celtic give Maik Nawrocki a chance next season after impressive Hannover loan?

Maik Nawrocki’s Celtic future in doubt after Hannover 96 shake up
Jorg Schmadtke and Hannover 96 parted ways this week with the German side in fifth place in the Bundesliga 2, just three points from the top.
In a statement on Hannover’s official website, the club said, “The supervisory bodies of Hannover 96 will decide in due course on the appointment of a new sporting director for Hannover 96 GmbH & Co. KGaA.
“Mr Schmadtke’s duties will be taken over on an interim basis by managing director Henning Bindzus and sporting director Ralf Becker.
“For Hannover 96, achieving the sporting objectives for the current season remains the top priority.”
For Nawrocki, this will be a huge blow as Schmadtke was a big fan of the Celtic defender and appeared keen on making the Polish star’s temporary move a permanent one.
What Jorg Schadtke said about Celtic’s Maik Nawrocki’s Hannover future
Speaking after Nawrocki scored his second goal of the season, the former Hannover sporting director was asked if he wanted to sign the Celtic star on a permanent deal.
Schmadtke told The Herald Sport, “It depends on which league we’re in. A final decision will be made about Maik relatively late in the season.
“He’s been good for our side. The crucial thing is that he’s fit and maintains his rhythm.
This could actually work out in Celtic’s favour. As Nawrocki is exposed to continued first-team football in a winning team, the big Pole could return to Paradise full of confidence this summer.
For whoever takes over from Martin O’Neill, Nawrocki could bring competition for places in the heart of the Celtic defence, a defence that has become stagnant due to the over-reliance on Auston Trusty and Liam Scales.
