The Celtic players are already enjoying the presence of Harry Kewell at training and being part of the group, captain Callum McGregor has revealed.

Kewell was added to Ange Postecoglou’s staff before the players returned to Lennoxtown and jetted off to Austria, replacing Stephen McManus who has moved to work more closely with Celtic B.

Postecoglou previously explained that he felt it was important to add a fresh face to the coaching line-up to remind everyone at Celtic nothing will stand still.

Now the club captain has been talking up his qualities in a new interview with Sky Sports from the training camp in Austria.

McGregor told the broadcaster: “We’ve had a couple of chats already. He likes to remind you how successful he was as a player.

“But it’s great, to have someone of that ilk, who has played at such a massive level – to have someone like that inside the building to pick his brains and listen to the experiences that he’s had.

“You see him around the players as well, he’s got a great personality and a great way with the players. He’s settled in really well so his experience will be invaluable this season as well.”

As Celtic begin to prepare for Champions League action, having someone there who has won the entire tournament before can’t be a bad thing.

It sounds like he is already becoming a valued member of the group and hopefully his insights can really add something to Postecoglou’s quest for improvement this season.

Every decision the Celtic boss makes is meticulously considered so clearly he thinks we’re gaining an edge here.

I’m excited to see how it all plays out.
