“He is more than happy”; EPL legend dismisses Ange Postecoglou narrative after Celtic chat

Australian legend Mark Schwarzer has refuted the assumption Ange Postecoglou is heading for a job in the English Premier League shortly, feeling that he will leave on good terms with Celtic.

Schwarzer made over 500 appearances in the English top-flight and played over 100 times for Australia and after a recent chat with Postecoglou, feels the growing narrative of the Celtic manager ditching Glasgow for a job down south is wide of the mark.

Postecoglou seems to be linked to every available job in the Premier League, with the media seemingly constantly pushing an exit angle.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the former goalkeeper said: “He is one of those people who lays the foundations, accomplishes a lot with a club. And if an opportunity comes up — and it all works for everyone — then who knows.

“I actually think he is very happy where he is. When I spoke to him he had an unbelievable respect for Celtic and the opportunity they have given him to manage at the level they are at. So I don’t think he is actively looking to move on at all. I think he is more than happy.

“If, down the line, there are opportunities?  Well, then, you have to make tough decisions. But everywhere Ange has left he has done it on good terms. He has always done it the right way. I can’t see it being any different when he goes from Celtic.”

Postecoglou has never given any indication he has one eye on other opportunities. Whenever the subject comes up, he reiterates that Celtic are his focus and that he still has lots more to achieve here.

I get that it’s a dramatic angle that attracts attention for different outlets but Schwarzer is spot on. The evidence suggests Postecoglou will leave the Bhoys when the time is right for all parties.

It’s good to see this kind of level-headed analysis doing the rounds. We need it.
