Brendan Rodgers’ current Celtic contract runs out in the summer of 2026.
Since he returned to the club in 2023, Rodgers has won a league and Scottish Cup double, has progressed Celtic in the Champions League and is on the verge of winning yet another treble.
But with less than 18 months on his current contract, Celtic fans are wondering if Rodgers will stay or will he go once the terms of his current deal run out.
Celtic legend Murdo MacLeod has been giving his verdict on Rodgers’ Parkhead future and makes a prediction that will make many Hoops fans smile.

Murdo MacLeod tips Brendan Rodgers to ‘stay’ at Celtic
The former Celtic and Borussia Dortmund star was asked if he thinks Rodgers will make his way out of Parkhead after next summer when MacLeod gave a definitive answer on where he sees the Carnlough man’s managerial future.
MacLeod told the Daily Record [print edition page 56], “He’ll stay. There might be a chance at some point but if Brendan is enjoying being at Celtic and he’s winning trophies, then he might be thinking about winning more.
“If you look at the amount of trophies he’s won in his two spells, it tells you he’s right up there with the best managers the club has seen.
“Some of the best of the best haven’t won as many trophies as Brendan has. So, he is right up there.”
Murdo MacLeod dismisses talk that Rodgers will walk away from Celtic
With all the success that Rodgers is having at Celtic, there will inevitably be other clubs looking to court the Parkhead boss.
But will the Celtic manager do what he did in 2019 and walk away if another Premier League comes calling? MacLeod reckons not.
The former Celtic midfielder continued, “You don’t know what he is thinking, but it could be a huge incentive to add to his total. He’s already got his place in history. The only negative would be if he left before the end of his contract again. He might get pelters again!
“But I don’t see that happening. He’s come back and won so much that he might want to stick around until the day he’s not winning any longer.
“There’s no better feeling than being at a club like Celtic, with the fantastic supporters and competing for silverware every season.”
There have been so many examples this season alone of players leaving Celtic and it not working out for them.
Kyogo Furuhashi and Matt O’Riley are the two highest profile cases that prove that the grass is not always greener at other clubs.
Rodgers has done a decent job of rebuilding his legacy at Celtic over the last two seasons. Is it really beyond the realm of possibility that he could decide to continue that past next summer? Never say Never.
