Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou was delighted with the performance of Liel Abada this evening, as well as the other players who were rotated into the team.

Postecoglou made five changes from the weekend demolition against Hibernian, but there was no drop off in the intensity of Celtic’s football, with Abada showing he can be as lethal in front of goal as anyone.

The Israeli international is now the club’s joint-top scorer in all competitions, and after the match, Postecoglou was insistent that he can get even better.

Speaking to Premier Sports, the Celtic manager said: “We try and help him [with finishing]. He’s a great kid. He wants to learn, and he wants to improve. There are still areas he can improve. That’s the reality of it. He took his goals well tonight, and he probably should have had a hat trick in the end.

“It’s really important. The guys that came in once again did a really good job for us. We’re obviously going through a busy period, and I’m rotating the team a fair bit. The pleasing thing for me is that the level of performance is staying constant.”

Still only 21, you can understand why Postecoglou thinks there’s even more to come from Abada. As he is exposed to more and more first-team football, experience is only going to help him reach new heights.

You can see the improvement in him even from when he first arrived at Celtic. He’s always been an impressive finisher, but increasingly, you can sense his awareness and penchant for finding clear space away from defenders is only becoming more potent.

With eight goals already this season, he’s almost guaranteed to hit double figures and you’d have to say he has a brilliant chance of blowing past his 15-goal tally of last term.

The sky is the limit for the youngster, and it’s Celtic who will benefit.
