More outlets are independently reporting that Brendan Rodgers has agreed terms with Celtic, with an announcement expected soon.
The Scottish Sun reported over the weekend that an agreement with the Bhoys had been finalised, with Rodgers set to be Celtic’s highest-paid manager in history on a long-term contract.
Sky Sports have now corroborated that report with their own update, while renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has swiftly followed that up with his own information.
Neither of those sources has given a firm date for the official confirmation, although The Scottish Sun previously reported it would come on Monday. It’d make sense to get the news out as early as possible this week. Momentum is moving towards that now happening.
If it is tomorrow, the announcement will come just a fortnight after Ange Postecoglou left for Tottenham Hotspur. The club have acted quickly to secure one of the best managers on the market right now.
Rodgers, of course, arrives with plenty of baggage – both good and bad. He won seven domestic trophies from seven attempts before leaving for Leicester City, an unprecedented level of success in such a short time period.

However, that departure to Leicester was controversial. It remains a sore point for some Celtic fans. Plenty of others have indicated over the last few years they are willing to see water travel under the bridge on the way to more good times.
Undoubtedly from a business perspective, it makes plenty of sense for the Bhoys. We need a manager to maintain the standards set by Ange Postecoglou. Rodgers’ pedigree does that. He will definitely have ambitions to take Celtic to a higher level.
How it all works out is an exciting unknown. With talk of big transfer budgets and a long-term plan when it comes to European football, fans potentially have a lot to look forward to.
