Brendan Rodgers could sign a contract that commits him to Celtic for five years when he is officially confirmed as the club’s new manager early this week.
Reporting on Rodgers succeeding Ange Postecoglou hasn’t changed over the weekend as fans wait on an announcement to end the manager search. It’s all still pending and there’s no concern of a U-turn despite silence from both camps.
One of the journalists at the forefront of providing updates on it all – Derek McGregor of The Scottish Sun – has given us a few more details to chew over.
It’s reported a five-year deal is likely to be signed when Rodgers takes up the job, as he launches ambitious plans to push Celtic ahead in domestic football and on the continent.
What’s more, it’s also said he will again become the club’s highest-ever paid manager, breaking his own record from his first spell in Glasgow. He’s expected to earn in excess of £2.2m per annum, with bonuses on offer for success on the pitch.
It is also reported to all be done and dusted on Monday, meaning by this time tomorrow we could know for sure what the future of Celtic looks like and have heard from most of the principal parties involved in sealing the deal.

Undoubtedly Rodgers has a bit of relationship-building to do with the Celtic support following his exit in 2019, but on the whole, a return makes sense. His success is undeniable and if his vision for the club is now aligned with the boards, good times are ahead.
Postecoglou took us on an incredible ride as Celtic fans but now it’s time to push on and aim even higher. A statement appointment such as Rodgers’, on a long-term lucrative contract, shows the club are ready to do that.
