Alistair Johnston is widely regarded as one of Celtic’s hardest-working players by the fans.

The Canadian right-back is respected for his warrior-like attitude and his relentless engine as Johnston marauds down the Celtic right-flank.

So when Johnston speaks about another player ‘giving everything’ on the pitch or even in training then Celtic supporters are going to sit up and take notice.

And what he’s said about one of Brendan Rodgers’ summer signings will surprise but also not shock the Celtic fans one bit.

Alistair Johnston is shocked at Celtic’s training ‘madman’ Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney is a die-hard Celtic supporter and that shows when he steps onto the pitch as he gives his all for the team and the fans.

And what he does at training has left Johnston in awe.

Johnston told The Herald, “He’s unbelievably technical, but look at what he puts into his body, how he takes care of himself, how he trains.

“In terms of just giving everything. His ball striking, his quality – it’ll add a lot to our group. I’m just really excited to play with him. It’s been great and he’s a big personality.

“That was something that we needed with Greg (Taylor) leaving. You could probably tell how big of a personality he was just by his interviews and things along those lines.”

Fans will love this but won’t be surprised with Tierney’s commitment. Firstly, his work rate has never been in question and Celtic supporters have also known this.

What may be surprising is how hard Tierney goes at training considering his past injury issues. But then, this just shows how the fullback is trying to put that injury myth to bed.

Johnston says Tierney’s arrival dampens the impact of losing Greg Taylor at Celtic

Celtic lost a reliable defender in Greg Taylor this summer. And Johnston believes that Tierney’s arrival has offset the disappointment of that, and more.

Johnston continues, “Losing him was not only big on the pitch but off the pitch as well. Having Kieran come back in is great.

“He’s talented beyond belief as a footballer and also just a good lad who gets the football club.

“That’s another thing that can’t be downplayed. how important that is to have those kinds of people that are born and bred Celtic men. That is important. Kieran just has the DNA to play here. It’s been great to have him in.

“He’s a great lad and he gets it, as a lot of people would say.”
