Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will need to utilise his squad over the season run-in to ensure his side is fresh to challenge for silverware on two fronts.
The Bhoys go toe-to-toe with Dundee at Parkhead tonight as they look to close the gap on Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership or, at the very least, keep it to two points.
One advantage that Rodgers can call upon is the fact that a large core of his squad has experienced the thrill of claiming trophies and know what is required to get major honours over the line.
Callum McGregor and James Forrest are two of the most decorated players in Celtic history, with the latter claiming an incredible haul of 23 trophies.
Of course, past achievements count for nothing when looking towards the future; however, there is a certain mentality that develops during these moments that is difficult to build from scratch.
For now, one game at a time will be the mantra for the Hoops in their quest for a domestic double, which is an approach that has served the club extremely well in the past.
Brendan Rodgers says James Forrest can be important for Celtic
Speaking ahead of his side’s home clash against Dundee in the Scottish Premiership, Rodgers fielded questions surrounding several topics related to the Hoops’ ongoing title battle.
During proceedings, Celtic veteran Forrest came up in discussion, and the Irishman hinted that the 32-year-old could be called upon between now and the end of the season, labelling him as the club’s best wide-man based off ability alone.

Rodgers stated [Celtic FC YouTube]: “James is available. He’s been training and been an amazing servant to this club. I’m pretty sure over these final remaining games he may well have a part to play in it.
“I think for me, the thing is looking at the team, we need to have intensity, we need to have that relentless mentality. But there’s no doubt of his ability; that’s never in question. As a winger, I would say, in terms of ability, he’s the best one we have. There’s no question.
“But how we ask the game to be played, the intensity, the consistent running, as you get older then it becomes a challenge. But there’s no doubt there will be a point over these next 11 games where he’ll be required. He’s training so well and keeping himself ready.
“He’s a top professional. He looks after his body, and he’s himself every day, and if he’s required to play, then he will do.
James Forrest is available if needed for Celtic
Forrest has been a fantastic player for Celtic; nevertheless, his involvement this term has been limited, with the Prestwick-born man making just 18 appearances, registering two goals in the process [Transfermarkt].
Granted, he isn’t the force he once was; however, his experience and footballing intelligence offer Rodgers a handy outlet from the bench should he be required.
Celtic have a plethora of options out wide to choose from, though it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Forrest gain meaningful minutes over the coming months.
