Hibernian have seemed to bring back up a recent Celtic Park clash in a club statement after winning an SFA appeal.
On Wednesday morning, the Easter Road side announced that they had successfully overturned a red card given to midfielder Jimmy Jeggo at the weekend.
The Aussie was red carded by referee Craig Napier during Saturday’s 1-1 draw at St. Johnstone.
The challenge on Connor McLennan was deemed to have been a red card at the time, without the use of VAR, but has now been downgraded to a yellow by the SFA.
Hibernian chief executive Ben Kensell said he was pleased “common sense has prevailed” before going on the attack and mentioning other incidents from this season.
In the Hibs statement, he said: “This is a positive outcome, however, throughout the current campaign, we have raised serious concerns with the standard of officiating across the Scottish game on at least five occasions where decisions have wrongly gone against us.”
While Kensell didn’t mention any matches specifically, it seems very likely that one of the matches he is referencing was a recent visit to Celtic Park.
After our 3-1 win in March, Hibs boss Lee Johnson blasted referee Steven McLean.
“He’s just had a really poor performance,” Johnson said at the time. “It just bugs me because clubs like us we need all teams on point and today we were and they weren’t.”
So Hibs clearly feel they’ve had not had the rub of the green this season. Maybe they should try watching our games to see how many awful decisions we’ve had go against us at various points of the campaign.
Jeggo will be part of the Hibernian squad due to face Celtic on the penultimate match day of the league season on Wednesday 24 May.
