Ange Postecoglou has managed to convince current Spurs coach, Ryan Mason to stay on as part of his coaching team according to a report from football.london.
Mason is very highly rated at Spurs and after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho in 2021, he took control of Spurs’ last six matches season. He narrowly lost out on winning the English League Cup after losing to Manchester City 1-0 in the final. [Sky Sports]
This season was more of the same, after the dismissal of Antonio Conte, Mason took control of Tottenham after Newcastle’s 6-1 win forced Daniel Levy to dismiss interim Head Coach, Cristian Stellini. [BBC]

And now, after talks with Postecoglou on Friday, Mason was so impressed that he has decided to stay on at the London club despite interest in Europe and the English Championship for his services as manager.
What does Ryan Mason’s appointment at Spurs mean for Celtic?
The report says Mason has been offered a role at Spurs, but until we find out exactly what role it is that he has been hired to do, it’s still ‘as you were’ for the moment. Ange is yet to name his backroom staff even though Spurs said they would make an announcement in ‘due course‘
With John Kennedy expressing a desire to go to Spurs and Ange reportedly looking at taking Gavin Strachan as well, until more appointments are made or an announcement is made by either club, we will have to assume that nothing much has changed.
Celtic however, are still not keen on losing Kennedy. The former Celtic defender is highly thought of at Celtic Park and the club are keen to hold onto him but if the assistant manager wants to go, what is the point of forcing him to stay?

As we discussed this morning, it would be best all round if Kennedy was allowed to go. We will need complete focus on the challenges ahead and whilst Kennedy has been a fantastic servant for the club, it does seem as though he sees his future elsewhere.
We are about to begin a new chapter in Celtic’s history. Despite the obvious disappointment at losing Ange Postecoglou, there is still a lot to look forward to.
A new manager will bring new ideas to take the club forward and with three trophies to defend next season and group-stage Champions League football to come, there is still a lot to be positive about at Celtic.
