There has been a lot of noise around Cameron Carter-Vickers of late.

When Celtic fans were hearing of transfer talk regarding central defenders, they didn’t want to hear Leeds United’s interest in Carter-Vickers.

The newly-promoted Premier League side are one of the giants of English football, and have just returned to the elite, so you will expect them to dip their hands into their pockets and spend big during the 2025 summer transfer window.

But Leeds aren’t the only team that has emerged around Carter-Vickers’ name, because Sunderland have also been mentioned.

Celtic have proven over the years that, if serious money is put on the table for their players, then they reluctantly accept it because they can’t compete with the finances of English football.

Although the noise around Carter-Vickers, amid these rumours, is slightly different.

The Celtic board’s stance on Cameron Carter-Vickers amid transfer interest from Leeds United

Carter-Vickers is Celtic’s main guy at the back, especially with the likes of Liam Scales and Auston Trusty struggling to cement their place in the XI during the recently concluded season.

But the Daily Record are reporting that the Celtic board are ‘bemused’ by suggestions that there will be some kind of ‘bidding war’ for their player.

Record Sport also shared how the Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, is ‘unaware’ of anything bubbling around his player and, as of this moment, ‘no moves’ have been made.

Carter-Vickers’ season in numbers for Celtic

Even though Carter-Vickers came through at Tottenham, he is yet to taste Premier League football, but has strong experience in the English Championship.

The 27-year-old has had four trophy-laden years in Glasgow, including helping Scotland’s most successful club win two trophies last term.

The only downside has been his constant injuries, including only starting 26 Premiership games for the 2024/25 campaign.

But that still doesn’t discount his value to the team, and how Celtic need to be adding to their backline rather than selling key players.
