Celtic were linked with Aurele Amenda as they look to bolster their centre-back options, but it may be over before it has even started.
Amenda was linked with the Hoops after calls for a central defender to be signed got louder and louder.
This comes despite Stephen Welsh’s recent recall from his loan at Motherwell, with that decision alone proving how confusing the club’s transfer strategy is.

Eintracht Frankfurt sack manager after poor form
The centre-back is currently playing for Eintracht Frankfurt, where he has struggled for game time with just eight appearances.
Something needed to change and Frankfurt have sacked Dino Toppmoller.
He leaves the club seventh in the table and not totally out of the race for European football, but a change is necessary and that could mean that Amenda may have a route back into the side, depending on who is appointed.

Standing at 6′ 6″, his man-mountain presence would certainly be most welcome in Celtic’s attack and defence.
Dislodging one of Auston Trusty and Liam Scales would be the first task but, if he were to join, the Swiss star has already given an insight in what supporters could expect from him.

He told the Eintracht Frankfurt website in 2024: “My main strengths are my duels. I love to defend my goal. I’m very calm on the ball and can also play at right or left-back. I’m versatile and hungry, but I’m still young too.
“I still need to make progress when it comes to reading the game, which is something that comes with experience. I also need to improve going forward – I want to score goals in Frankfurt. I think I can improve a lot here. I became a leader last season [and] I want to show that here too. I’m not going to hide.”
