Scott Brown’s standards as a Celtic player never slipped.
The former club captain was always demanding, gave 100 percent and expected nothing less than that from every teammate he stepped onto the pitch alongside which resulted in helping towards Celtic’s incredible trophy haul.
The Celtic icon has not changed since he retired, either, and is the exact same as a manager as Ayr United’s squad are finding out this season. The Championship side sit second in the division to Falkirk by just three points and Brown has turned them into winners.
It has been a terrific campaign for Brown and he will hope his new loan player from Celtic Park can help his side progress further.

Josh Clarke says Scott Brown has same standards as Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers
Goalkeeper Josh Clarke arrived at Somerset Park to answer an SOS call from his new boss who was short on stoppers for the title run-in. He started in their 3-2 win at Queen’s Park and on signing he immediately explained why he fancied working under Broony as gaffer.
Clarke is used to the expectation of winning as a player at Celtic and, just like Brendan Rodgers, that is the mindset Brown has as a boss and he wants it from his players.
So the 20-year-old fit right in. “I hadn’t played since pre season, which funnily enough was against Ayr at Somerset,” he told Ayrshire Live, having been on loan previously with the Honest Men. “But when you train with the best players around, it prepares you really well for what’s ahead of me now.
“It’s been instilled in me at Celtic to win games and the manager (Brown) also demands that of the players here at Ayr.
“I’m aware there’s been some chops and changes with the goalkeepers here this season but I’ve been well prepared at Celtic to come in and perform.
“I’ll do whatever I can to come in and help the team in their promotion push.”
Clarke has learned from Kasper Schmeichel at Celtic Park
Clarke has not yet featured for Celtic’s first-team as a player under Rodgers but he has trained on a daily basis with the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo and Scott Bain.
Schmeichel is one clean sheet away from a record and is the ideal man to learn from at 38 having had the stellar career he has had.
Brown, meanwhile, is another top legend Clarke can benefit from listening to having won what he has won in Glasgow and throughout his career.
At just 20, Clarke may yet have chances with the Scottish Premiership champions. But he, like other youngsters including Jude Bonnar and Daniel Cummings, will have to bide his time.
